In fact, a lawsuit by the latter and a non-compete agreement signed by the former forbade Brenner from selling any sort of chocolate for five years. By the way #saltbae was a lot better dinner that same night and they DID let us charge our phones for free at our table :).When Oded Brenner and Max Fichtman, co-founders of the international chain Max Brenner: Chocolate By the Bald Man, parted ways in 2012, it was not an amicable split. Lost a $100 dollar table over 2 minutes of letting a customer charge their phones in a normal putlet just by wanting to charge a customer $1 for a BS rental and making it seem like it was a favor…. Great job from the red haired lady manager…. they really wanted us to pay $1 to charge our phones and they made it so burocatric that they lost a $100 dollar tap by trying to force us into a miserable $1 phone charge rental…. a couple of minutes later she returned saying that the manager agreed to let us charge ONLY ONE PHONE (as if it were a priviledge and a favor not a service to a paying customer) up to the minimal amount so we could THEN scan and rent the in house chargers and THEN we could charge our phones and THEN we could scan the menu QR code… all that just to sit and place our order…. Yes… they charge $1 per hour to charge your phone, which is ok i get it but to actually pay for the charger you need to SCAN another QR code to release the charger but HOW DO YOU DO THAT WITH 2 Dead phones?! So i told the waiter we couldnt scan to pay for the charger so she said she would again talk to the manager…. we had to use the chargers the place provided/rented to the customers (which is understandable) so they moved us to the front of the restaurant and pointed to the RENTAL CHARGERS…. They moved us to a table with wall chargers close, after we sat the manager moved us froM that table saying we were NOT allowed to charge our phones in the restaurants normal power outlets there as per company policy. Since we couldnt scan the QR code for the menu we requested a table with a charger up. My wife and I walked in with both of our cellphones with a dead battery…. Horrible customer service and experience and we were only 10 minutes in. The service was as bad as it gets, F- More She didn’t bring it back for a while again. The other two groups with us have the server their credit cards and told her how much to charge it. We spoke to the manager, he was no help either. She argued for at least 20 minutes about that and said we are the first customer in 14 years to ever question this and wanted to know why we can’t just use our calculator and figure it out because that’s what calculators are for. As long as Astellia keeps true to “no pay-to-win” in the shop, I’ll be glad to continue playing the game.Astellia is a beautiful upcoming MMORPG scheduled to release in the West this year. I don’t mind that it is a buy-to-play with a cash shop because there are so many games that do it well. ![]() I think players are more likely to spend money if it’s not going to have other players getting ahead simply by their wallet. It’s important for an MMO that’s heading West to know what doesn’t fly. It’s something that works in the Korean market but is definitely not welcome in the Western market. Kudos to them on actually holding true to their word so far on removing p2w aspects from the original MMO. ![]() I enjoy what Astellia Online is doing right now, and though I believe we are out of Closed Beta keys, we’ll be sure to keep you up to date on launch dates, updates and more for this up and coming MMO. I do think it still needs some optimization, but that could be due to heavy flooded servers, or the location of the server I’m on. I like the idea of being able to swap out various adorable and badass creatures to help me do battle, or flood the battlefield with them if I should need to. I enjoy this gameplay, I like the art, and the collection of Astels is a cool concept. It’s more of a traditional MMO instead of an Action MMO such as Blade & Soul, TERA, or BDO. It’s not as action-packed as TERA, but you do have a cool dodge roll that definitely comes in handy. So far, Astellia Online is going the right way. Sure, it looks similar to most of the other Korean MMOs, but is that really such a bad thing? It’s visually appealing, and sure, it looks similar, but I like the art style. I like the concept though! It’s also a pretty game. I imagine they’ll be a part of loot tables in a variety of dungeons. There’s no way to buy them with real money that I see, and that’s a good thing. Each of these Astels has their own stats, skills, and uses, and you can acquire them through gameplay. Your singular Astel also does this from what I understand, but it seems to recharge decently with only one Astel. However, if you get into a situation where you need a bit more oomph to your damage, you can summon extra Astels if you have them, but they will start draining your AP at a greater rate. You can summon one of them at a time, which has an AP cost (the yellow bar under your HP/Mana). Astels are little dolls or magical entities that will help you in battle. This subscription gives 20% more Player/Astel EXP, a reduction to the Dungeon Ticket recharge time, increased Dungeon Tickets (+4), and a 15% Zender Bonus. Finally, you can purchase an optional subscription for 30/60/90 days. Now, there are Beeswax Tokens, which let you un soul-bind items, but I read on the forums they are not supposed to be there. There are potions that recharge AP a bit faster (tied to your Astels), Dungeon Tickets, and Resurrection Scrolls. The Zender Shop also has cosmetics, but it does have a few more consumables. There’s also the Zender Shop, which is the currency you acquire from PVP/Arena battles. Skins for Weapons, Armor, Astels, and Costumes can be purchased. That’s right, they’re just honest-to-god cosmetics! You can also purchase resurrection scrolls, which are handy to have in case you die in a dungeon or something. The vast majority of it is cosmetics and mounts, none of which have stats attached to them. Astellia Online does have a cash shop, but it seems to be very reasonable to me right now. This could change as the game goes on, but I’d rather be positive and think that it will stay the way it is. In a previous article, I wrote that pay-to-win means different things to different people, but I can say with one hundred percent certainty that at the moment, Astellia Online has kept true to their cause of removing the Korean p2w content from the game. But let’s talk about the most important thing: Monetization. That’s something I hope to have information on in the near future. Each of these classes has a trio of advanced classes, but right now I do not know the specifics of how to unlock them. The male characters are Assassin and Warrior. Archer, Mage, and Scholar are the female characters. Sorry to say, but if that’s a deal-breaker for you, as the game stands, each class has a set gender. But I do want to point out something that is probably going to upset some players: It is gender locked. We did a livestream of the game yesterday, and I have to say, I’m very curious about this MMO, which hasn’t happened outside of Final Fantasy XIV in a very long time. Astellia Online definitely does a great deal with its engine, having character classes, advanced classes, and of course the Astels themselves, which also have classes and help you in battle. Astellia Online is not out yet, and is in fact in its limited-time Closed Beta 2 test. ![]() This is usually the downfall of these pieces. Now that the heavy tarnish is removed, it is still clear that we’re not going to be able to polish out the rust. The result is shown on the right, and, things aren’t improving much. But before going any further, let’s take the rear bell out on the buffing machine and see if we can salvage the piece. Upon examination (left), we see a badly tarnished surface and substantial rust pitting. For now, we’re going to turn our attention to the case restoration. Wrapping the lens in a plastic bag is prudent as well. On the right, a small Tupperware container is used to store the movement and other parts until Note the dial and hands which have been stored in a plastic bag for protection. It’s very important to start thinking about organizing the project. At this point, the rear assembly easily comes apart exposing the movement as is shown below. Now that the hands are removed, the dial can be lifted off, exposing the movement. The hour hand pulled away in this case with a gentle twist at the center wheel (NEVER twist the hand itself), and no tools were required. An original dial in good condition carries a heritage forward with the clock. If the dial is marred from careless hands, or oilstained, it brings down the appearance of the entire clock. If the dial is in good condition, the entire clock looks better. It’s important to do everything possible to preserve the dials on these antique clocks. No damage was done to the dial with this approach. On the right is a view of the dial with hand safely removed as well as another view of the puller. It helps to rock the puller side to side gently, which helps coax the setter away. This time the entire assembly came right off. If you pull on the hand and not the collet, you’ll be reriveting the collet to the hand, which will pop right off and separate. Even though the puller isĭesigned to avoid touching the dial, the setter has a deep collet and you must get under the collet if you want to get the assembly off in one piece. This prevents accidental marring from the hand puller. A sliver is cut out of the paper so that it can be slipped under the setter. Prying any hand off against the dial will mar the dial or distort the thin dial pan. This setter, it is absolutely imperative that a miniature hand puller be used. No problem in this case with the minute hand, but the alarm setter remains a challenge. To remove the dial, the hands must be removed. Removing those gives us access to the dialĪnd hands as shown below. There are three small screws retaining the bezel assembly. The first step in the restoration is to remove the front bezel and dial. They are rusty and discolored and the slots are burred, but not badly stripped. The front and rear screws show signs of having been removed and replaced several times. ![]() The collet and hand are rattling around loose under the glass and the tip of the center wheel arbor is distorted. Someone had attempted to tighten the minute hand by smashing the arbor down, and had in the process separated the hand collet. The center picture also shows that the hand is loose. Further, a leg is missing and the bottom of the case is fairly distorted, probably caused by the same force that dislodged the leg. The rear bell cover has a substantial amount of rust pitting which doesn’t polish very well. Attempts to polish it were futile, offering marginal improvement and wearing the nickel through. It’s evident from the pictures (and even more so in real life) that the case on this clock is distressed. Fortunately, this clock has a dial that is in at least good condition, so the restoration promises to result in a very attractive clock. We’ll be going into detail on the restoration of the movement and case, as well as the hands. This article focuses on the restoration of a 1927 Style 1 Baby Ben. We’ve had several customers ask us to restore or maintain their early Westclox models as the clock ofĬhoice that they use on their bed stands because of their reliability, robustness, loud alarms, and decorative charm. These clocks were wellengineered and very rugged, and many have withstood the test of almost 100 years in service. Many fine models could be purchased new in the early 1900’s for around $1.00 (probably close to $15 in today’s currency). Collectors enjoy the early Westclox models as examples of American ingenuity and creativity. In particular, early Westclox models are a very common favorite with them. The number of alarm clock collectors seems to have increased over the last decade or so. ![]() “You see cause black women are queens, and when white culture saw their worth, they were rattled He describes the beauty he sees in women and their actions. The Applicant – Sylvia Plathīut in twenty-five years she’ll be silver, The poet says she’s an equal in strength and ready to charge into the war by “his” side. The poet describes herself as the one who suffers the most to bring a new life into this world, and is, therefore, the one who will stay awake at night worrying over her child. Inner beauty is much more beautiful when worn with confidence. ‘Phenomenal Woman’ shows that even though a woman might not be beautiful according to society’s standards, every woman is beautiful on the inside. It also talks about how, when you put down a woman, she will always try her best to stand up and take back the reigns of her life. The poem showcases that even when women were oppressed, they still flourished. Men are symbolized as Prose and women as Poetry. This poem talks about the discrimination women faced in the early 20th century society.
